UCLA Loneliness Scale, Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale, Preference for Solitude Scale and personal information form were used in the study. In the analysis of the data, SPSS 20.00 program was used. It was revealed that there was a positive relationship between students' loneliness and levels of solitude preference (r = 0,325), and there was a negative relationship between self-esteem level and loneliness (r = -0,488), and solitude preference (r = -0,215) level. The regression analysis showed that the self-esteem levels of the students explained 23.6% of the change in loneliness levels and 4.4% of the change in the level of solitude preference. On the other hand, it was concluded that the level of solitude preference explained 10.3% of the change in the level of loneliness. It was determined that loneliness, solitude preference and self-esteem levels did not differ among university students according to their gender, grade levels and housing.
